Our annual 4-week summer tennis camp will run this year from July 1st - July 26th, 2013. A REGISTRATION DAY will be held on Saturday, April 27th at our clubhouse for all who are new to the program. Any available spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, starting at 8:30 am for NWTC member's children and 9:30 am for non-member's children. To take advantage of our early-bird discount, forms and payment must be received by April 27. Cost of the program goes up $25 after April 27. Forms may be left in my box at the club (marked "Junior Coordinator”) or mailed to the address above.
PROGRAM FEES AND SCHEDULE
The cost of the program is $150 per child ($135 for NWTC member's children) and includes a t-shirt, prizes and a wind-up BBQ with an awards' presentation. In order to qualify for the membership discount, one family member must be a paid, playing member of the NWTC by April 27th,2012. In cases where it is necessary to withdraw from the junior program prior to July 2nd, a FULL REFUND will be given. A 50% refund will be given to juniors who are withdrawn from the program anytime during the first week. NO REFUNDS will be given to juniors who are withdrawn after the first week of lessons has ended.
The camp will run Monday through Friday for 4 weeks beginning on Monday, July 1st. We ask parents or caregivers of younger children to supervise their own child as they arrive and depart from their lesson. After the first day, juniors should enter the club through the lower gate off of Court 4. The front door of the clubhouse will remain locked at all times. Parents are welcome to stay and watch their child's session from the clubhouse balcony. In the case of rain, lessons will be cancelled. However, the courts dry quickly so all sessions may not be cancelled on any given day. Juniors MUST WEAR NON-MARKING, ATHLETIC SHOES to their lesson to prevent black skid marks on our courts.
Lesson times are as follows:
Beginners (6-9 years): 8:30 am - 9:45 am
(10 and up): 9:45 am - 11:00 am
Intermediates: 11:00 am-12:30 pm
Advanced: 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
The final week of the camp will consist of a mini-court doubles tournament in the Beginner levels and a full-court singles and doubles tournament in the Intermediate and Advanced levels. THE BBQ AND AWARDS' CEREMONY WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, JULY 26TH @ 12:30 pm.
In addition to the summer junior program, our club continues to promote junior membership. To that end, the club has made some bylaw changes to make it more affordable than ever for juniors to join. This is of particular interest to those juniors of non-playing parents. There is no initiation fee for the junior member and the parent need only join with a non-playing membership fee of $60. Juniors still need adult supervision at the club. However some juniors( of the right age, maturity, and playing ability) may attain intermediate status allowing them to play with adults in prime-time hours. We want to promote tennis as a sport for life. Introducing the youth of our community to our tennis club will provide them the opportunity to meet friends and learn a sport that is as much social as it is physical.
